Women chased, pub-shamed by Tamil media in a revenge bid against Chennai club; derogatory photos, videos shot
Thanthi TV, a popular Tamil news media is being criticized massively over the internet after it unnecessarily pub-shamed and chased women who were at the Big Bull bar in Chennai. The women were harrassed and forcefully shot in a bid to target the Chennai pub.
As per the Police, the case began when 5 inebriated men were disallowed from entering the pub at around 11:30 pm on 19th November. The pub management said that the pub had dress code to be followed and that the men needed to wear shoes to enter the pub.
However, later after a minor argument, the pub management stated that the bar was anyway about to close for the day and that the men would not be allowed. The men then pledged to target the pub for not allowing them to inside the bar. One of them informed a friend who worked in a media house.
The media man inquired what the ruckus was about but later tried to enter the pub. The other 5 men also tried to barge in. The bouncers on duty stopped the men. Meanwhile other media persons and police arrived at the spot and a false narrative got peddled that the pub was open beyond the mandated closing time.
The women were then pub-shamed for drinking alchohol and staying at the bar for so late. They were harassed by the Tamil media persons and forceful closeup videos of women were shot. One of the women asked the cameraperson to stop shooting and said that she would file a police complaint. The cameraperson said, “Go ahead, Get lost”.
The police took cognizance of the event and said that the entire matter looked like some sort of revenge.
