Ghaziabad: Woman held for conducting prenatal sex-determination tests in car

Cracking Down on Illegal Prenatal Sex Determination

In a joint operation, health department teams from Haryana and Ghaziabad arrested Minakshi Tyagi, a 42-year-old woman accused of conducting illegal prenatal sex determination tests in a mobile van. Tyagi lured women into these tests, evading detection by operating in isolated locations.

A pregnant woman from Alipur, Delhi, participated as a decoy, leading to Tyagi’s arrest. The decoy was instructed to meet Tyagi at a specific location, and eventually taken to a man in a Santro car who performed the illegal test. After the test, health department teams swooped in, arresting Tyagi, though the man escaped.

Authorities are actively tracing the man and ensuring such illegal practices are curbed. This operation highlights the relentless efforts to combat gender discrimination and protect women’s rights.
