In a harrowing case mirroring the film Drishyam, Army jawan Ajay Wankhede, 33, was arrested for murdering his girlfriend Jyotsna Aakre, 32, and concealing her body with cement.
The two had connected via a marriage portal, and their relationship developed into a romance. However, Ajay’s family opposed their union, arranging his marriage to another woman, after which he began ignoring Jyotsna.
On August 28, Ajay arranged to meet Jyotsna on Wardha Road, using his mother’s phone. They checked into a hotel briefly and then drove to a toll plaza, where Ajay reportedly gave her a sedative-laced drink. When she became unconscious, he allegedly strangled her, buried her in a remote location, and covered the site with cement. Jyotsna’s family reported her missing, triggering an investigation that led to Ajay’s arrest after multiple attempts to evade police.
Police tracked Ajay through call records and summoned him for questioning. During interrogation, Ajay disclosed the location where he had buried the body.
