As per Section 46(4) of the CrPC, a male officer cannot arrest a woman after sunset & before sunrise without a magistrate’s approval.
Even during the day, a female officer must be present for the arrest.
This law was introduced in 2005 to prevent harassment & ensure women’s safety.
