Canada : Indian Origin Woman Assaulted in Daylight
Calgary, City Hall Station : In a viral video a man grabbed a woman’s water bottle and splashed water in her face. The man then grabbed and violently shook her and demanded her phone, before fleeing the scene without her phone, allowing the Indian origina woman to call police.
Police have denied the race angle and have charged the man, Braydon Joseph James French for one count of attempted robbery. He was arrested 25 minutes after the incident.
Even though racism was ruled out by police, world over there has been a spate of anti Indian racism. In California Latham Johnson was charged with a hate crime in 2022 when he robbed 14 Indian women. The hate crime charge is for identity motivated crime AKA hate crime.
Law and order experts view crimes in public transport systems as more serious as they strike at the very foundation of an urban system.
