In a shocking incident, a man entered a Mumbai local compartment reserved for people with disabilities. This led to a verbal argument with a visually disabled woman. He accused her of using abusive language and assaulted her persistently. Despite efforts by co-passengers to restrain him, he continued the assault. Finally he escaped at Mumbra station. However after the video going viral, the man has now been arrested.
This comes on the back of a liquor bottle attack at a moving train’s ladies compartment yesterday. The potentially deadly attack highlights the senseless violence directed at women and the utter lack of civic sense in India. Mumbai locals are the lifeline of the city. We demand railway and Mumbai police take safety on locals seriously and show tangible results.
