What began as a missing person case has now unraveled into a shocking murder conspiracy spanning two states.
May 22:
Newlyweds Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam, both from Indore, check into a homestay in Nongriat, Meghalaya, for their honeymoon. They were last seen alive checking out the next day.
May 23:
The couple goes missing after reportedly heading toward Mawlakhiat. A local guide claims to have seen them accompanied by three unknown men. Their rented scooter is later found abandoned in Sohrarim.
June 2:
Ten days later, Raja’s body is discovered inside a deep gorge below Weisawdong Parking Lot. A machete believed to have been used in the murder was also recovered. The hunt for Sonam begins.
June 8 (Saturday night):
Sonam is found unconscious at a dhaba in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. After being treated at Ghazipur Medical College, she surrenders to the police.
June 9:
Meghalaya Police confirm her arrest and reveal that Sonam allegedly hired contract killers to murder her husband. Three men, including two from Indore and one from UP, are arrested during overnight raids. One more accused is still on the run.
