Since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021, they have barred girls from secondary education, making Afghanistan the only country in the world to impose such a restriction. As new school year starts in Afghanistan, almost 400,000 more girls are deprived of their right to education, bringing the total to 22 lakh.
The ban extends to universities, leaving women with few paths to pursue higher education or professional careers.
