Udaipur : A 30-year-old French woman who had come to Udaipur for a commercial shoot was allegedly sexually assaulted on June 22. The accused, Pushpraj Ojha (also known as Siddharth), met her at a party hosted at The Greek Farm Café & Restro near Tiger Hill. As per the complaint, he convinced her to accompany him under the pretext of showing her around the city, and instead took her to his rented flat in Sukher, located in the Badgaon area, where the assault took place.
Despite the woman’s repeated requests to return to her hotel and her phone being switched off due to low battery the man reportedly refused and went on to sexually assault her.
The survivor approached a private hospital for medical attention and later registered a complaint at the Badgaon police station on June 23. A case of rape was filed, and a medical examination was conducted.
The accused, who is believed to be a casting director, runs a local group called Udaipur Casting Call, initially absconded but was tracked and arrested by police on June 25. Initially, he denied all charges and claimed he had been framed in a “honey-trap” situation. However, officials stated he later confessed to the crime. The case has sparked public outrages over tourist safety and legal accountability in the region.
