In Faridabad, a woman named Deepali Jain has been booked for slapping her domestic worker, Shyama Devi, eight times and abusing her with casteist remarks.
Speaking to reporters, Shyama said, “The driver rang the bell 10-12 times. I went and opened the door. That’s when Deepali started slapping me without saying what I had done wrong. My nose bled, my cheeks swelled, and I had a severe headache.”
She also alleged caste-based abuse and said this was not the first time she had been mistreated by the employers.
An FIR has been filed under multiple charges, including those from the SC/ST Act, assault, intimidation, and insulting a woman’s modesty. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the premises. Action is pending further investigation, officials said.
