Delhi High Court’s New Portal Empowers Women Against Workplace Harassment

Sexual harassment in the workplace can undermine a woman’s freedom and her ability to earn a livelihood.

In a groundbreaking move, the Delhi High Court launched a dedicated digital portal on July 3 to streamline complaints under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act, 2013. This innovative platform, unveiled by Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and Justice Prathiba M Singh, aims to empower women by simplifying access to justice, offering confidential online filing, FAQs, legal assistance, and the ability to save draft complaints. It addresses the confusion women face in identifying the right Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to approach.

The portal tackles a pressing issue—workplace harassment affects 55% of Indian employees, often leaving women vulnerable to verbal abuse, intimidation, and mental trauma. Justice N Kotiswar Singh warned that false complaints could undermine the system, but the focus remains on fostering a safe work environment. This initiative, sparking hope and debate, demands robust enforcement to ensure women’s dignity. It’s a vital step toward dismantling toxic workplaces, inspiring a nationwide push for accountability and mental health support.
