Greater Noida Man Arrested for Assaulting Woman on Balcony. Anyone Can Report Domestic Violence.
On July 30, 2025, a 24-year-old man named Shibbu was filmed assaulting a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, on the balcony of an apartment in Amrapali Golf Homes, Greater Noida West. The video, recorded by a neighbour, shows him dragging and hitting the woman until she collapses. The footage quickly went viral, sparking outrage.
Bisrakh police registered an FIR based on the woman’s complaint and arrested Shibbu the same day. Legal action is underway under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities have reminded that domestic violence is punishable and urged people to report such cases.
Under India’s Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, anyone who witnesses or suspects domestic abuse can legally report it—this includes neighbours, friends, or family members. You do not need to be the victim to take action. Neighbours can help protect victims by alerting the authorities early. Reports can be made confidentially or anonymously through helplines such as 100 (Police control room), 1091 (Women’s helpline), or 181 (National women’s helpline). These channels are designed to safeguard the reporter’s identity and ensure prompt response.
