“Go Back To Nepal”- Indians Mistreating Other Indians Must End

Siliguri Students Face Alleged Racial Abuse and Assault, Police Complaint Filed

In a disturbing incident in Siliguri’s Hakimpara area, Ms. R Lama, a Scheduled Tribe student from Dooars, along with her friends, faced alleged physical assault and verbal abuse, prompting a police complaint at Siliguri Police Station. Students pursuing higher education and competitive exams were targeted by Leela Dutta and Rubi Dutta, residents of the same building on Rash Behari Sarani.

According to the complaint, the Dutta sisters used a hammer to damage the students’ rented accommodation, leading to a confrontation. When questioned, the sisters allegedly attacked Ms. Lama and her friends with the hammer, using racial slurs and abusive language. The students managed to fend off the assault and protect themselves.

Owner of the house Pankaj Thakur said: “The students reported that the two accused used abusive language and made derogatory remarks about their caste. I promptly informed the relevant authorities. If the accused had any concerns, they should have addressed them directly with me. Such behaviour is entirely unacceptable.”

Police stated that a case had been registered and an investigation is underway.
