A deaf and mute young woman experienced a terrifying ordeal in Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh, when she was chased down a deserted street at night by bike-borne assailants.
Chilling CCTV footage captured her desperately running in fear, as men on motorcycles closed in behind her. The footage, taken near the homes of senior district officials, has sparked outrage and questions about security in the area.
Unable to escape, the assailants—Ankur Verma (21) and Harshit Pandey (22)—forced her onto a motorcycle and took her to a secluded spot, where she was assaulted. Later, her family found her unconscious in the bushes, her clothing disordered, and signs of trauma evident. After gaining consciousness, she bravely reported that she had been sexually assaulted by the men who chased her.
Once her family filed a complaint, Bulandshahar police acted quickly. They tracked the suspects with CCTV clues and arrested both Ankur Verma and Harshit Pandey after a brief police encounter in which both tried to escape and sustained injuries. According to police statements, both confessed during preliminary questioning. The girl was admitted to the hospital and is reported as stable.
