We have always maintained that in a legal system dominated by men, fake cases are not possible without men. Hence blaming women alone for fake cases is blame shifting.
A special court in Lucknow sentenced advocate Parmanand Gupta to life imprisonment for orchestrating 29 fake rape and caste atrocity FIRs over five years. He used the identity of a woman who worked in his wife’s beauty salon. Gupta abused provisions of the SC/ST Act to target rivals in pre-existing property disputes, pocketing compensation money from these fabricated cases.
The Allahabad High Court, alarmed by the pattern of false complaints, ordered a CBI probe that exposed Gupta’s calculated criminal enterprise. Evidence showed Pooja, the employee, had been coerced and threatened, forced to sign blank complaint forms filled later by Gupta.
Medical reports and witness statements proved the alleged assaults never took place, and Pooja admitted she was misled.
Gupta was convicted under multiple sections of the BNS and the SC/ST Act, fined over Rs 5 lakh, and barred from practicing law by the Bar Council of UP. The court emphasized the serious damage caused to innocent victims falsely accused, warning misuse of protective laws erodes public faith in the judiciary and harms genuine survivors.
