Nikki, married since 2016, was brutally murdered in Greater Noida over dowry harassment. Despite her family having already given a branded SUV and valuables at marriage, her husband, Vipin, and his family kept demanding more—Rs 35 lakh and another car.
On the night of August 21, Nikki was beaten unconscious by her husband and in-laws, then set on fire with an inflammable substance. She was rushed to Fortis Hospital with severe burn injuries and referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, but tragically died on the way.
Her sister, who is married into the same family, revealed the continuous abuse and harassment, and even was present during the attack, but was unable to save her. Nikki’s young child witnessed the crime and shared “Papa killed Mummy by burning her with a lighter” in a video.
Police have registered a case against four family members: Vipin (husband), mother-in-law, father-in-law, and brother-in-law. Vipin was shot in the leg in a police encounter and arrested.
