Telangana police found 33-year-old Lakshmi Prasanna dead in Rajamahendravaram Government Hospital on August 23, 2025. Her husband, Poola Naresh Babu, and in-laws allegedly starved and tortured her to death. The reason was unpaid dowry demands. Her family gave two acres of mango orchards, half an acre of farmland, Rs 10 lakh in cash, and gold worth Rs 10 lakh at her 2015 marriage. They later demanded more. Lakshmi suffered confinement and beatings for two years. She lost contact with her family. Her skeletal body showed fresh and old injuries.
Kothagudem police registered a suspicious death case after her father’s complaint. They named Naresh Babu, his mother Vijayalakshmi, sister Dasari Bhulakshmi, and brother-in-law Srinivas Rao as suspects. Investigators probe the abuse details. A post-mortem examines her condition.
