14 Arrests, Still Free to Murder Innocent Woman

A 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee, Iryna Zarutska, who had escaped the devastation of the Russia-Ukraine war seeking safety in the United States, was brutally murdered in a random attack on Charlotte’s Lynx Blue Line train.

CCTV footage shows Zarutska sitting quietly in her pizzeria uniform when, just four minutes later, Decarlos Brown Jr—a 34-year-old homeless ex-convict with a long criminal history—suddenly lunged at her, stabbing her three times, including once in the neck.

Brown calmly exited at the next stop, leaving behind the murder weapon, and was later arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
