16yo Ukrainian Pushed Under Train in Germany

Liana’s murder in Germany has drawn comparisons to the recent killing of another Ukrainian woman in the United States.

New details have emerged in the tragic case of 16-year-old Ukrainian refugee Liana, whose life ended violently at a railway station in Friedland on August 11.

According to investigators, shortly before the attack, Liana had phoned her grandfather and told him she was being followed. Moments later, she was pushed in front of a freight train by a 31-year-old Iraqi man, as confirmed by the prosecutor’s office.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but the teenager could not be saved. The suspect was taken into custody soon after and as authorities work to establish the motive.

Liana had fled Ukraine in search of safety from the war, only to face danger abroad.
