Indian Tourist Killed By Nepal Protestors

A trip to Nepal turned tragic for Rajesh Gola, a 57-year-old woman from Ghaziabad, when violent anti-government protests erupted in Kathmandu. On the night of September 9, protestors set fire to the hotel where she and her husband were staying. As flames blocked all exits and smoke filled the stairways, rescuers urged guests to jump from the fourth-floor window onto mattresses below. While her husband survived the fall with minor injuries, Rajesh suffered serious injuries and later died in the hospital.

The unrest in Nepal, driven by ‘Gen Z’-led demonstrations against corruption and a government social media ban, has left dozens dead and many tourists stranded. The Gola family’s tragedy highlights the dangers faced by ordinary visitors caught in political upheaval. Rajesh’s son has called out the lack of timely assistance from authorities
