In Hyderabad’s Kukatpally, two domestic helpers, 21-year-old Harsha and 20-year-old Roushan, savagely murdered their 50-year-old employer, Renu Agarwal, in a ruthless hunt for her digital locker’s password. The Kolkata-origin family, residing in Swan Lake Apartments for 15 years, became targets while Renu’s husband Rakesh and son Subham were at their Fateh Nagar steel shop.
The assault was a chilling display of violence. Alone in the flat, Renu was bludgeoned with a pressure cooker, stabbed in the throat and hands with a knife and scissors, and bound to extract the code. Unable to comply, she died from her wounds. The pair stole Rs 1 lakh and 4-5 tola gold from cupboards and her body, then bathed, changed clothes, discarded bloodied items, locked the door, and escaped on Roushan’s scooty. CCTV traced them to Hafeezpet railway station, 8 km away, suggesting a train getaway.
Her family discovered her, sparking a police manhunt with five teams, including one in Ranchi.
