In the Nashik Panchavati chain snatching case, two masked men targeted the home of Nandini Nayak on the morning of September 11, 2025. According to reports, the suspects approached her residence under the pretense of asking for water, with one calling out “Kaku, Kaku” (Aunty, aunty) and requesting directions and a drink. Trusting their request, Nandini opened the door and offered them water.
The situation escalated quickly when one of the men suddenly grabbed her three-tola gold mangalsutra from around her neck. Nandini immediately resisted, managing to grab the T-shirt of one attacker and calling for help. Despite her efforts and a brief scuffle in which part of the chain broke and fell, the thieves escaped with the bulk of the jewelry. Police have registered a case and are actively investigating using the footage to identify the culprits.
