30 Villagers & Village chief come together to protect a sexual assault accused but we discuss why we need feminism!
A shameful incident unfolded in UP’s Bulandshahr as a rape accused slipped out of police custody with the alleged help of the village chief and dozens of locals. The accused, 45-year-old Mohammad Afzal, had been arrested for allegedly raping a 22-year-old woman.
Police said Afzal escaped when officers reached Ahmedgarh village under Khurja Dehat police station limits. The team was confronted by villagers, led by pradhan Mohammad Rouf, who allegedly obstructed them and enabled Afzal’s escape. Some locals later claimed the policemen were in plain clothes, sparking confusion during the scuffle.
An FIR has been filed against 30 people, including Rouf, on charges of abetment, obstruction, and wrongful restraint. Police have now launched a manhunt to trace Afzal, who remains absconding.
