A young woman was forcibly abducted by her relatives while practicing Garba in Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday night.
The shocking incident, recorded on camera, showed the accused dragging her away in full public view and flashing what appeared to be a pistol to intimidate bystanders. The woman had been living separately from her husband due to his alcoholism and abuse, a decision her family disapproved of. She now lives with another person.
Following a swift response after a Dial 112 alert, police set up barricades and dispatched teams that intercepted the accused near Shamgarh, about 80 km from Mandsaur, rescuing the woman within two hours. Seven people, including both men and women relatives, were taken into custody, and a toy pistol from the abduction vehicle was recovered. Investigations are ongoing into the family dispute that led to this brazen public abduction.
