Thousands took to the streets of Buenos Aires after the torture and murder of cousins Brenda del Castillo and Morena Verdi, both 20, and 15-year-old Lara Gutiérrez, was livestreamed by an alleged drug gang to a private group on social media, sparking national outrage.
The three victims were lured into a van on September 19, misled with a promise of a party, and discovered five days later, buried in a suburban backyard, having suffered horrific acts of torture as a warning for allegedly breaking gang rules.
Protesters marched demanding justice and stronger protections against gender-based violence, displaying the women’s names and photos, while relatives called for urgent government action.
