In a disturbing incident near Tiruvannamalai, two constables from the Tamil Nadu Police have been arrested and suspended after being accused of abducting and raping a woman from Andhra Pradesh during a “routine” vehicle check.
According to reports, the officers—identified as Suresh Raj and Sundar—halted a goods vehicle carrying two women late at night, separated the younger woman(19) from her relative, dragged her into a nearby grove, and assaulted her in the presence of the other.
The victim, along with her relative, was reportedly en route to a Temple. The police say the officers abandoned both women on the roadside. The survivor was later transported to Tiruvannamalai Government General Hospital, where medical examinations confirmed she had been sexually assaulted. A case of abduction and rape has been filed, and the constables were taken into custody by a local court.
