Syed Rahim Adnan Ali, a third-year student at IIIT Raipur, allegedly used AI tools to morph photos of 36 female classmates into obscene visuals. The incident surfaced when female students verbally complained to faculty. They suspected their images had been digitally altered.
The institute acted promptly, and a fact-finding committee, headed by a female professor, investigated. The committee seized Ali’s laptop, mobile phone, and pen drive. The devices contained the AI-generated content. Ali was expelled from the institute that day.
An FIR was filed at Rakhi Police Station against Syed Rahim Adnan Ali. ASP Vivek Shukla said “Another team will be sent to Bilaspur to take the accused into custody. Relevant sections of the Information Technology Act have been invoked in the FIR,”.
