An adult, received 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping and conducting a mock marriage with a 14-year-old Class IX girl. Additional District and Sessions Judge Sunil Jindal sentenced him on October 12, 2025. He got 20 years’ imprisonment. A Rs 50,000 fine was imposed. Non-payment adds one year to the sentence.
The incident occurred in June 2021, when the victim’s father filed a missing person report. Police traced the girl to the accused’s sister’s house, and the medical examination confirmed rape. In her court statement, the victim said the accused performed the ceremony and assaulted her. She added that she intended to live with him after turning 18.
The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. The court treated the accused as an adult due to the crime’s severity. The verdict reinforces strict penalties for child sexual offenses and child marriages in Haryana, where POCSO cases are rising.
