Situational Awareness: Key to a Family’s Escape from Armed Attack
On October 25, 2025, in Union City, California, an 8-year-old girl and her 40-weeks-pregnant mother encountered four armed male suspects arriving in a white Ford Taurus outside their home.
The girl noticed the suspects exiting the vehicle and immediately alerted her mother by saying, “Mom, I think we should get in the house,” prompting the mother to hurriedly slam the door shut, after which the suspects fled without entering.
Police called it an attempted home invasion and robbery and are investigating the four males involved. The family credits situational awareness training for enabling their quick response that prevented harm.
