In a chilling incident, a 20-year-old first-year PG student from a private college in Coimbatore was abducted and sexually assaulted by three men near the Coimbatore International Airport on the night of November 3, 2025. The victim was returning from a trip with a male friend when the accused, reportedly intoxicated, smashed the car’s window, assaulted the friend with a sickle, and dragged her to a secluded spot where the sexual assault took place. The perpetrators fled after stealing her iPhone, leaving the victim traumatized and in need of immediate medical attention.
Coimbatore police launched a swift 36-hour manhunt, utilizing CCTV footage, a trail from the accused’s TVS-50 scooter, and a tip-off from the stolen phone’s location to track the suspects.
All three accused were apprehended following a dramatic chase near the city outskirts, during which they were shot in the legs after allegedly attempting to flee and attack officers. The accused have been identified as T. Karuppasamy (alias Satheesh/Satish, 30), T. Kaleeswaran (alias Karthik/Karthi), and Guna (alias Tavasi), two of whom are siblings with prior criminal records, including murder and theft cases.
