In a shocking violation at a festive gathering, a 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 25-year-old relative inside a community centre washroom in Delhi’s Dwarka area.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday. The minor and the accused had traveled together from their hometown to Delhi by bus to attend a family wedding at the community centre. Amid the festivities, the girl stepped away to use the washroom. The relative followed her inside, where he assaulted her. The assault was interrupted when some women at the venue spotted them and raised an alarm, alerting others.
A PCR call was received at 3:12 am, prompting swift police response from Dwarka North station. Officers arrived at the scene, registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and IPC, and ensured the victim underwent a medical examination to document injuries and collect evidence. The investigation is ongoing, with police recording statements from the survivor and wedding attendees.
