In a stunning act of bravery, 38-year-old Surta Parmar from Rajasthan’s Dungarpur dove into a murky pond to rescue a young family from their sinking car after a horrific crash. As the vehicle plunged 10 feet off the road, unconscious parents Dharmesh and Shilpa Yadav, along with their crying 11-month-old son Drish, were trapped inside—while bystanders filmed instead of helping. Parmar, aided by her teenage daughter, shattered a window with an iron rod and pulled them to safety one by one.
Parmar, a widow raising her children alone, brushed off the praise with quiet humility. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, she shared that she had a brief phone call with Dharmesh, who was already inquiring about her well-being from his hospital bed. “It wasn’t bravery,” she insisted. “It was just… humanity. That cry pierced my heart.” In a world quick to record crises, Surta reminds us: real heroes act.
