A decade ago, in 2016, Moroccan state TV channel 2M aired a shocking segment. A makeup artist showed how to conceal domestic abuse bruises with concealer, ending: “We hope these beauty tips help you carry on.” It normalized hiding violence instead of confronting it.
Social media exploded in outrage, petitions demanded sanctions, and the channel removed the clip, apologizing for the “editorial error.”
A decade later, it reminds us domestic violence demands action.Almost half of Moroccan women face violence. A 2018 law criminalizes it, adding protections like restraint orders and harsher penalties.
