In Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district, Ashok Singh—husband of a BJP councillor—was arrested after a viral video showed him arrogantly threatening a woman, saying “Nothing will happen to me” while she cried and vowed to complain. The clip sparked massive outrage over alleged political influence.
The woman initially accused Singh of raping her at knifepoint six months ago, recording it, and blackmailing her for repeated assaults. However, in a late-night statement on Dec 27, she retracted the rape claim, saying it was made “out of anger and fear,” and alleged only molestation, obscene gestures, and threats.
Police registered a case for sexual harassment, outraging modesty, and criminal intimidation. Singh, with a long criminal history, was sent to jail on Dec 28. Investigation ongoing.
