Esther Lalduhawmi Hnamte, a 9-year-old singing prodigy from Lunglei, Mizoram, has been honoured with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2025 for her outstanding contribution to music and culture at a young age.
Esther rose to national prominence after her soulful rendition of A.R. Rahman’s “Vande Mataram” went viral on social media. She began singing at the age of three and has since earned widespread praise for her patriotic performances and exceptional talent.
She has also released videos featuring Assam Rifles and been featured in an award-winning documentary about her life.
In addition to the Bal Puraskar, she has received several honours including a special appreciation from the former Governor of Mizoram, a Young Achievers Award, and recognition as the Amul Girl in 2021.
