A 13-year-old girl was rescued from a house in Guwahati’s Panjabari area after police found her hidden inside a bed’s storage box during a raid. She was allegedly forced into domestic work since the age of seven and subjected to abuse and confinement.
The rescue was carried out by Dispur Police and child welfare officials following neighbours’ complaints. The child was sent for a medical examination and produced before the Child Welfare Committee.
Three accused were arrested, and a case has been registered under child labour and abuse-related laws. Police are continuing the investigation.
