In Lalitpur district of Uttar Pradesh, over 100 women vandalised two liquor shops in the Mahroni area, protesting against harassment, domestic violence, and social problems linked to alcohol consumption.
The women said they had repeatedly complained to authorities about the impact of liquor shops in their locality, but no action was taken. As part of the protest, they first blocked a main road and later smashed liquor bottles, causing losses estimated at around ₹15 lakh.
Videos of the incident went viral on social media. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
