Two sisters in Bhopal, MP, identified as Amreen and Afreen, were arrested on February 24, 2026, for allegedly running a sex trafficking and exploitation network under the guise of offering jobs to vulnerable women from economically weaker backgrounds. Police said the duo, along with an associate, Chandan Yadav, lured women with promises of domestic work at ₹10,000 a month plus free food and housing. Instead, the women were forced to attend parties and pubs, pressured to consume alcohol and drugs, and sexually exploited. Three other accused — Bilal, Yasir and Chanu — are absconding. Cases have been registered under charges including rape, criminal conspiracy and forced religious conversion.
Two victims, aged 21 and 32, approached the police separately and narrated similar experiences, leading to the exposure of the racket. One woman alleged she was repeatedly raped by multiple men, drugged and threatened with the release of objectionable photos when she tried to escape. The second victim, a beautician from Chhattisgarh, said she was taken to Ahmedabad on the pretext of work and assaulted there. She further alleged she was pressured to change her religion and wear religious attire against her will before she managed to flee and file a complaint. Police are now investigating the possibility of more victims and a wider interstate network.
