Kochi: Kadavanthra police arrested four individuals—Safina alias Safana Shukoor (27), Amal Venugopal (32), John Rahul (23), and Anand Murugan (29)—for assaulting, wrongfully confining, and intimidating a deaf-and-mute youth at a city lodge.
The victim was befriended by Safina via social media and lured to a Kadavanthra lodge at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday for financial gain. The group restrained him, stripped him, and filmed him nude after he refused sexual relations.
The assault caused grievous injuries, including a rib fracture. The second accused hit the victim’s palm with a torch and attempted to strike his head; the victim blocked the blow, averting potential death.
Rahul and Murugan were arrested Tuesday night; Safina and Venugopal were arrested Wednesday morning from a Vazhakkala lodge.
