Shocking Attack on Junior Woman Doctor in Tirupati Sparks Outrage and Demands for Safety
A junior woman doctor at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in Tirupati was brutally attacked by a patient, in an incident that has ignited widespread outrage amid ongoing calls for better protection of healthcare workers, particularly women.
The attack, captured on CCTV, shows the patient violently grabbing the doctor’s hair and slamming her head against a hospital table, prompting immediate intervention by other doctors in the ward.
In response, the SVIMS Junior Doctors Association and hospital staff staged a protest, demanding stricter safety measures and a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served. They emphasized the urgent need for enhanced security protocols to protect healthcare workers from such violent acts, especially in light of the recent horrific rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata.
