A heated argument erupted on an AC local train at Mumbai’s Andheri station after a passenger insisted a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) speak only in Marathi. When the TTE refused, the passenger turned abusive.
The situation flipped when another Marathi-speaking TTE stepped in. He dismantled the passenger’s stance by pointing out the man’s own use of Hindi and English on WhatsApp, exposing the contradiction.
The sharp comeback of the second TTE has drawn praise for calling out language hypocrisy and stressing that linguistic pride should not override basic respect.
