Used for blackmail and rape by boyfriend and 5 friends
A 19-year-old college student from Odisha’s Cuttack was raped and blackmailed multiple times by her boyfriend and five others after intimate videos of her with her boyfriend were recorded.
The boyfriend took the videos during an outing at a cafe, with the owner’s help. They threatened the woman of making the video public and raped her several times.
Police arrested her boyfriend, the cafe owner, and four others, including a minor, and recovered the videos from their mobile phones.
Recording intimate moments can feel personal and meaningful, but it comes with serious risks, especially in an age of easy digital sharing. Once a video exists, control over it can quickly slip away, leading to potential misuse or invasion of privacy. These recordings can easily become tools for manipulation, particularly when relationships turn sour or trust is broken.
