White House notes research on women is understudied, underfunded; announces first ever initiative on Women’s Health Research

US President Joe Biden and First lady Jill Biden on November 13 announced first ever White House’ initiative on Women’s Health Research. The effort will be led by First lady Jill Biden and the White House Gender Policy Council. According to the official statement released by the White House, the new initiative will fundamentally change how the state approaches and funds women’s health research.

The White House in its official statement stated that women have been understudied and underrepresented in health research for far too long. It said that their health conditions are often taken not too seriously and that research on the women’s health also remains underfunded at times.

The lack of investment in the research regarding women’s health result in less understanding of conditions that are specific to women. This further affects women and their health condition differently.

To avoid this, and to improve lives of millions of women across the United States, First Lady Jill Biden, who has long championed women’s health, and the White House Gender Policy Council has come up with the first-ever White House initiative on women’s health research.

The Initiative will be chaired by Dr. Carolyn Mazure, who as per the statement released by the White House is an esteemed leader in the field of women’s health research.

The First Lady believes that no enough research has happened when it comes to women’s health and as a result of this even common women’s health conditions cannot be best managed or treated easily. “Our new White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research will help change that by identifying bold solutions to uncover the answers that every woman and her family deserves,” Jill Biden added.

Notably, the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research will galvanize the federal government, as well as the private and philanthropic sectors, to spur innovation, unleash transformative investment, reduce research gaps and improve women’s health.
