Remember the media explosion after Atul Subhash case? We covered it too. It was the biggest news for weeks. Since that day we have covered many women who have lost their lives to dowty harassment. Either by self harm or by murder. It adds up too, about 6000 women died to dowry harassment in 2022 as per NCRB data. It is normalised so why would it be news?
Amreen was all of 22, her husband worked in Bengaluru and she lived with his parents in Moradabad. As per her testimony, she was being harassed for dowry. Imagine being a dependent 22 year old living in someone else’s house and being harassed!
