In Andhra Pradesh, a 14-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped by 13 men, police reported. The female victim, a Class 9 student, was impregnated, with her six-month pregnancy confirmed after medical tests.
The assaults began when Abhishek, a 17-year-old male acquaintance, lured her to an isolated area and raped her. He recorded the act, sharing it with 12 friends, who repeatedly assaulted her over months, threatening to expose the video. The 13 male perpetrators, local residents, targeted the girl in secluded locations. The police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, for rape, gang rape. Four suspects are in custody, with nine still at large. The investigation includes forensic analysis of the video evidence and witness statements. The victim is receiving medical care for her pregnancy and psychological support at a local hospital.
The pregnancy came to light when parents, who were getting her treated for her frequent illnesses, were told that she was six months pregnant. The case emerged after her family reported her pregnancy to authorities.
