Kolkata Law Student Gang-Raped on Campus: Medical Report Confirms Brutality
In her written complaint to the police, the victim said she had gone to the college to fill a form for a test and was forced to stay back in the union room by an ex-student Manojit Mishra and two senior students Zaib Ahmed, and Pramit Mukhopadhyay. When she refused a marriage proposal, saying she was already in a relationship, the prime accused—now a practising lawyer—raped her while the others stood guard.
“She alleged that the two senior students present there had video recorded the rape on their mobile phones and threatened to leak it to social media if she approaches the police,” the officer said.
Medical examination confirmed forceful penetration, bite marks, nail scratches, and bruises around her neck. All three accused were arrested on June 26, and charged under sections for gang rape based on Supreme Court precedent—where aiding the crime carries the same legal weight as committing it.
The RG Kar Medical College case, where a woman intern was raped and murdered inside a hospital just months ago, remains fresh in public memory. With yet another institutional space being used to trap and violate a woman.
