A 37-year-old woman walked into what she believed was a safe legal discussion, only to be raped by the very lawyer handling her assault case.
The 55-year-old advocate, Jitendra, now sits in jail after a crime that has shaken faith in the justice system. The victim had filed a rape case months earlier. Jitendra was representing the accused. On November 6, he called her, claiming he wanted to “settle the matter peacefully.” She agreed, hoping for closure. Instead, he picked her up in his car, forced her to drink alcohol, and took her to a hotel where he assaulted her. Terrified and humiliated, she reached Ekta police station the next morning and filed a fresh complaint.
Acting swiftly, police arrested Jitendra on Sunday. He has been charged with rape and sent to judicial custody. Investigations are ongoing, with evidence collection and witness statements in progress.
