A 28-year-old woman, Hina, was strangled to death by her in-laws in Kasoli village of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday evening. Her family lodged a complaint on Monday, prompting police action.
Hina had married Khushnaseeb on May 21, 2023. According to the FIR filed by her brother, she was continuously tortured and harassed by her husband Khushnaseeb, father-in-law Intazar, mother-in-law Farzana, and two brothers-in-law over demands for additional dowry.
The four accused are currently absconding. After receiving the complaint, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem examination.
A case has been registered against the husband and in-laws under relevant sections of the IPC for murder and provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act. Special teams have been formed to nab the accused. Investigation is ongoing.
