Rohtak, Haryana: A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were seated at Tilyar Lake, Rohtak, when police personnel approached them and began questioning their presence without citing any legal grounds.
Advocate Praveen Malik intervened and objected to the police action, stating that such questioning amounted to moral policing.
He reminded the officers that Article 21 of the Indian Constitution guarantees the right to life and personal liberty, which has been interpreted by the Supreme Court to include privacy, dignity, freedom of choice, and the right of consenting adults to move freely in public spaces without arbitrary state interference.
