Kim Sung Kyung, a 32-year-old South Korean tourist, was molested by Mohammed Affann Ahmed, an Air India SATS ground staff member at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, on January 19, while she was about to board a flight home.
Ahmed allegedly approached her after immigration, claimed her luggage was beeping, which could have serious implications, and took her to a secluded area near a men’s washroom under the pretext of a “manual frisking” check, where he is accused of inappropriate touching and hugging despite her objections.
After Kim filed a complaint with airport security, Ahmed was detained and later arrested by local police; CCTV footage reportedly corroborates her account. Air India SATS has terminated Ahmed’s employment and is cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.
